Our EBI guide will pick you up from your hotel to start your visit to Alexandria. First visit The Greek and Roman Museum of Alexandria has an impressive collection of artifacts dating back to the ancient Greek and Roman eras, with notable pieces such as the statue of Alexander the Great, relics of Roman emperors, and mummies from these Greek and Roman periods. This museum offers a diverse collection of masterpieces spanning from the 3rd century BC to the 7th century AD, offering a captivating journey
through history with immersive narration and contextual insights. Next, visit the interior of the Catacombs of Kom El Shokafa, which are the largest Roman cemetery made up of three levels carved out of rock. You will also pass by Pompey’s Pillar and stop for a photo stop, (it was built in honor of Emperor Diocletian in the late 4th century).
The next stop is the Library of Alexandria, the largest library in the world, with 8 million books. Visit its open courtyard, where you can see the statue of Alexander the Great and the statue of Ptolemy I, found underwater nearby. You will visit the President Saddat Museum and the Museum of Alexandria Prints. Note: The Library of Alexandria is closed on all public holidays.
Next, the car will take you to visit St. Mark's Church, the oldest church in Africa. During the drive you will see the old town and the local historical architecture, which has Baroque style designs and Italian and French style properties. Optional lunch at a modern fish restaurant or at a famous traditional Alexandrian food place called Mohamed Ahmed's. The Queen of Spain and many celebrities go there when they visit Alexandria. You will also pass by the Abbo Elabbas Mosque (photo stop), the most beautiful and largest mosque in the city - the Abbo Elabbas Mosque, and the strangest sight outside it - an old amusement park where children play on very old rides and eat cotton candy. Opposite is the corniche and the old harbour, where you can see the old fishing boats, men fishing and traditional fishermen making nets. The photos taken here are amazing. Continue on to see the exterior of Quaitbay Castle, built on the same site as the ancient Lighthouse of Alexandria, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world.
Visit Montazah Palace Gardens, the royal gardens of King Farouk, the last king in Egyptian history, and pause for a photo next to King Farouk's royal palace, as well as on the queens' royal beaches.
